- Robert Toporek

Working since 1975

Robert Toporek, a certified Rolf Practitioner, is the author of “The New Book of Baby and Child Massage.” In 1975, Robert began a four year journey studying Rolfing directly with Dr. Ida P. Rolf and her son Dick Demmerle. In 1978, Dr. Rolf chose Robert to implement and manage a project to demonstrate and document the benefits of Rolfing for babies and children. Since then, Robert has continued to expand this work.

Running press encouraged Robert to write “The New Book of Baby and Child Massage,” which is making a difference in how parents worldwide raise their babies and children.

This breakthrough guide to child and baby massage explains how a child’s vitality, self-confidence, behavior, and overall development may be greatly enhanced by a few minutes of gentle massage by a parent on a regular basis. Here, easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations provide simple techniques for massaging babies, toddlers, and young children.

Touch is by far the most interesting and necessary of the ‘five senses.’ The sense of touch develops before all other senses in embryos and is the main way in which infants learn about their environment and bond with other people. This sense never turns off or takes a break, and it continues to work long after the other senses fail in old age. Throughout life, people use their sense of touch to learn, protect themselves from harm, relate to others, and experience pleasure. Interestingly, positive touch from others is necessary for an individual’s healthy development. Despite the presence of all other life requirements, without this positive touch, infants fail to thrive. With positive touch, babies and children will grow emotionally as well as cognitively.
